The Retyrement Plan
The Retyrement Plan Mumbai, India was created by Anu Tandon Vieira, a sculpture graduate with a post graduate degree in textile design from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. The label brings together her passion for design, sustainability and comfort in exquisitely hand crafted furniture made by repurposing waste from urban jungles.
At The Retyrement Plan, the people behind the scene are central to the way the brand is conceptualized and built. Forced migration to urban centres is a major concern in the Indian metropolis. Left without sustainable livelihoods, skilled workers are compelled to uproot their lives and adopt unskilled professions in cities. The loss here is a deeply personal one but also, on a broader scale, a loss of talented craftsmen and the generations of knowledge that they have acquired and now carry.
The Retyrement plan believes that products are only as good as the practices they support. Providing reliable, well paid employment and fair treatment to our craftsmen is foremost among our priorities. Our ethics define us and our products carry forth that legacy, at every step of the design process.
